Fabrication and magnetoelectric investigation of flexible PVDF-TrFE/cobalt ferrite nanocomposite films

Abstract Flexible nanocomposite films, with cobalt ferrite nanoparticles (CFN) as the ferromagnetic component and polyvinylidene fluoride–trifluoroethylene (PVDF-TrFE) copolymer ferroelectric matrix, were fabricated using a blade coating technique. Nanocomposite films prepared two-step process; first process involves synthesis of (CoFe 2 O 4 ) sonochemical method, then incorporation various weight percentages (0, 2.5, 5, 10%) into PVDF-TrFE to form nanocomposites. The polar ? phase was confirmed by x-ray diffraction (XRD). Thermal studies showed notable improvement in thermal properties nanoparticles. pure polymer/composite studied, showing significant maximum polarization upon 5wt% CFN loading composite compared film. magnetic as-synthesized polymer nanocomposites saturation 53.7 emu g ?1 at room temperature, while 10% ferrite-(PVDF-TrFE) shows 27.6 emu/g. We also describe for fabricating high optical quality pinhole-free films. Finally, mechanical revealed that strength increases up 5 wt% matrix decreases. This signifies obtained could be suited flexible electronics.
